What do YOU think of Fowlmere?
Have YOUR say and help to shape the
future of YOUR village
‘Paving the Way’ is coming! This is a project
designed to work with local people to identify what life is like in the
village. It encourages everyone to put forward their ideas about issues that
they feel are important and develop an Action Plan to take forward these ideas.
Everybody gets the chance to be involved and every idea and
suggestion, however large or small, is important.
By working together communities can
achieve great results for their village. In other
areas of
Cambridgeshire, local people have set up Community Centres, Book Cafés and
Tennis Clubs. They have also rescued Village Pubs from closure. ‘Paving the
Way’ Action Groups have investigated innovative transport schemes and ways to
work with young people to promote better communication between them and
decision-makers in their village. You might be surprised about what could be
possible for Fowlmere!
We want to
highlight all the great community activities going on in Fowlmere – maybe there
is more happening than you think! - and work together
to make things even better for the future. This project is not an alternative
to any village committee or initiative, it is about
working with all the different groups to bring together the ideas of
everyone in the village. This could increase local awareness and even help
attract funding in to Fowlmere. This is YOUR opportunity to make things
happen.
Over the coming
months, we will be out and about finding out your views. There will be a
movable display sited in different parts of the village so that you can add in
your thoughts, comments and suggestions. We will also be delivering a
questionnaire to every household. This information will be used
to draw up an Action Plan for the village and we will work together to try and
make these ideas become a reality. For this to succeed, it is vital that
villagers of all ages tell us what they think; children and young people’s
views are just as important. Be inspired! We want to hear what you have to say!
A local Village
Action Group is leading the project in Fowlmere and working in partnership with
rural development charity Cambridgeshire ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural
England), they will be helping to make sure that as many people as possible get
involved.
