FAREWELL FAMILY SERVICE
FOR THE REV. JIM MYNORS, HELEN MYNORS AND THOMAS MYNORS
AT ST MARY'S CHURCH FOWLMERE.

 

A Sundial

 

A special farewell family service to celebrate the thirteen years of ministry and friendship of the Rev. Jim Mynors and his family was held on Sunday 4th February 2001 at St Mary's Church Fowlmere. The Rev. Mynors is moving to Great Abington where he will be licensed on 21st February. Prior to the service, floral displays were arranged by Shirley Cooper and Josie Taylor and Sarah Taylor.

 

The church was packed for this special event and the congregation was treated to a musical feast with singing by the Music Group and the robed Choir of St Mary's Church. Picture of the congregation

The choir gave the first performance of 'The Trinity Anthem', the music for which was composed by Peter Hall, the former choirmaster.
Some items had instrumental accompaniment, with both Thomas Mynors and Jim Mynors playing their brass instuments. Helen and Thomas Mynors also performed Readings during the service.The Voyagers contributed an item rung on handbells. There was also a delightful organ postlude played by Colin Fuller.

 

During the service there were presentations to the Mynors family. Mrs Dallas Roberts presented a card signed by members of the congregation and Mrs Clare Jackson, who has regularly attended the church since 1937, unveiled the gift of a stone sundial from members of the congregation and village. Other presentations included a very large card made by the Sunday School children, a bouquet of flowers for Helen Mynors, a present for Thomas Mynors and cards from the Music Group and Choir. At the end of the service Mrs Carolyn Crawshaw presented a book on Cambridgeshire Churches to Jim Mynors and Mrs Lindsey Shaw-Miller a framed collage of photographs of St Mary's on behalf of the Friends of St Mary's.

Following the service a splendid buffet was provided in the South Room. The final event was the cutting of a large cake, baked by Jeanette Walker and iced by Maxine Pymer. This ceremony was performed by the three members of the Mynors family and a toast was proposed by Jeremy Pymer.
