Fowlmere Parish Council are pleased to advise that they have negotiated with ‘Help The Aged’ to provide Seniorlink service to older people in Fowlmere. We have negotiated a special price for the equipment provided that at least 10 people join the scheme and would encourage as many people as possible to take up the offer.

The Seniorlink is available for a once only purchase price of £145 plus VAT per unit (although you may be exempt from paying VAT). Once installed Fowlmere Parish Council will meet the costs of the monitoring and the maintenance of a £1.00 per week (£52 per annum) plus a delivery charge of £7.00.

The unit is easy to install and one of the Parish Councillors would be happy to help with this. Seniorlink is by far the best service we have found. It is not only available in the event of an emergency, but actively encourages you to use your call button if you are anxious, lonely or depressed and need to talk to some one at the response centre. They even ring you on your birthday!

The only criteria attached to purchasing a unit is that you must have a telephone line and an electric power point that takes the standard square pin plugs that are within approximately 10 feet of each other and also be able to provide the names and addresses of at least two keyholders.

Applying for a FREE SENIORLINK UNIT

Some of you may be eligible for a free Seniorlink unit. You will need to complete a simple form, which will be provided. We are keen to get this scheme up and running by September so that you will feel more secure as the nights draw in, which means we will have to work quickly. Dorothy Woods of Fowlmere Parish Council will be happy to help you complete the form and discuss with your relative if necessary. We do hope you take advantage of this scheme.

Scheme extended for the disabled

Following the success of the scheme for the elderly in Fowlmere, the Parish Council have agreed that the scheme should be extended to disabled people in our village. Even if you do not meet the age criteria, but are disabled and would like further details on the scheme please let me know.

The Parish Council will pay the yearly monitoring costs once the unit is installed. The 'Seniorlink' system is by far the best service we have found, as it is not only available in the event of an emergency, but it actively encourages you to use your call button if you are anxious, lonely or depressed and just need to chat to someone.

All you need is a telephone line and an electric power point that takes the standard square pin plugs that are within approximately 10 feet of each other and also be able to provided names and addresses of at least two keyholders.

Please contact me if you need any help or advice on the 'Seniorlink' system. I do hope you will take advantage of this scheme.
