![]() JUBILEE CELEBRATION June 3rd
At the Village Hall on June 3rd, the Queens Jubilee and the 25th Anniversary of the Hall will be celebrated jointly at a family fun day of sports activities and attractions aimed at the youngsters in the village. So far, we plan to have a 5-a-side football tournament, bouncy castle, raffle, various competitions, refreshments - the lot. There is a separate leaflet with the Newsletter with further details, so have a look and come and join in on the day. The aim is to have fun rather than raise money, although any funds raised are earmarked to go towards replacement of the bark under the play equipment at the Hall with rubber matting. It promises to be a day to remember, so dont miss it.
FOWLMERE SCHOOL PTA SUMMER FAYRE 2002 This
years Summer Fayre will have a jubilee theme and will be held on
the Butts on June 22nd. It is intended that this years event will
be bigger and better than ever, so alongside many of the regular attractions
there will be a few new ones. So far plans include the return of the Mega
Slide, bouncy castle, a live band, refreshments, raffle (with a TV/video
as first prize), and a host of stalls and games, old and new. Buy your
raffle tickets from any committee member now, and come along on the day
and support the school |
Art Exhibition at Fowlmere School 24th26th May 2002 The Friends of Fowlmere School will stage their Art Exhibition at Fowlmere School again this year from 24th-26th May. This will be the fourth annual exhibition, and the event has grown in size, popularity and success over the years. Last year over 70 local artists, many of them well known, exhibited nearly 300 pictures. Over 400 people, from in and way beyond Fowlmere, visited the exhibition and took delight in the variety and quality of the work, as well as the relaxing atmosphere that surrounds the display. Some also took advantage of the artist in residence to have their portraits sketched for a small sum, which was donated in its entirety by the artist to The Friends of Fowlmere School. We hope she will return this year. An added feature is a parallel exhibition of paintings by the pupils at Fowlmere School, which always attracts considerable interest, especially as visitors can vote for their favourite picture, allowing the painter of the most popular picture to win a small prize. Last years exhibition raised over £1500 for the school and we are looking forward to an equally impressive and tempting display of local talent this year. We would like to welcome as many visitors as possible and improve on last year's successes, so If you havent been before, do come along. Although many of the pictures are very reasonably priced, there is no obligation to buy. Just come and enjoy a delightful collection of work. The refreshments are good too! If anyone in the village would like to exhibit, or knows someone who would like to exhibit, or if you would simply like to know more about this years exhibition, please contact Lois Nolasco on 208442.
